We believe a psychiatric service dog can greatly contribute to the emotional, mental, spiritual, and physical healing of a Veteran or First Responder struggling with PTSD.

PAWS Act

Puppies Assisting Wounded Service Members (PAWS) for Veterans Therapy Act was signed into law August 25, 2021. It is a five year pilot program to provide canine training to eligible veterans diagnosed with post-traumatic stress disorder.

Public Safety Officer support act of 2022

There is shame and stigma associated with suicide in a culture that discourages showing weakness. First Responders are more likely to die by suicide than working in the line of duty. The CDC data for 2020 came in at 243 suicides. The resources lack for first responders dealing with PTSD, yet little has been done to address it. With no sufficient efforts and programs aimed at promoting awareness and preventing suicide, the shame and stigma will continue. The Public Safety Officer Support Act of 2022 has been introduced in Senate. This bill extends death and disability benefits to certain Public Safety Officers and survivors who suffer from PTSD following an on-duty situation.
